Monday deadline for Mputu move

The agent of DR Congo international Tresor Mputu has claimed a deal with Arsenal could be done as early as next week.

Mputu’s agent Bajo Bujani revealed that Arsenal have tabled a concrete offer to the striker’s club side TP Mazembe after Arsene Wenger was impressed by the player during a trial spell in London last month.

Bujani revealed Sevilla are also in the running for the 21-year-old’s signature but that Arsenal are in pole position.

“While Sevilla have also shown great interest, I believe Tresor will end up in England,” Bujani told Kick Off.

“Arsenal have given TP Mazembe until Monday to respond to their offer and I’m convinced that a deal will be completed after the weekend.”

Who was England's best player?

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“While all big teams (Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool) were busy protecting their best players, Arsenal was in forefront encouraging injury prone Walcott to participate in that useless freindly. Arsenal has a very thin squad and I remember Walcott said it but Wenger didn't take action to add some players. Arsenal players are not made of steel and Wenger should be prepared for such situation. We need Arsenal supporters on the board of Arsenal who can feel the way we feel when the team is losing and they can force Wenger to buy some experience players. Current board members are only interested in profits yet they (profits) don't go into history of the club”
