Future under Keegan excites Duff

Newcastle United winger Damien Duff is hoping to get back to his best under Kevin Keegan.
The Republic of Ireland star has suffered a nightmare time with injuries since moving to St James’s Park from Chelsea a year and a half ago. But after returning to first-team action over the last few weeks, he is now counting on the arrival of Keegan back to Newcastle to help him play the way he wants to.
Newcastle are yet to score in three games under Keegan, though two of those were away matches at Arsenal, and Duff feels the former Manchester City boss will get it right on Tyneside and likes to think he will play a big part.
“I’d like to think so, when you look at the teams he’s had in the past,” Duff was quoted as saying by The Irish Daily Mirror. “Especially at Newcastle I think the wingers then were a big focal point in the team, along with the strikers.
“So I can’t wait to start working properly with him. Obviously, he has only been in a week or so and we haven’t had time to work on the training ground with him because of the games, but I’m just really looking forward to the future there with him.
“It’s really good, really positive. The gaffer has been brilliant, even though we haven’t won a game if you don’t count Stoke [in The FA Cup] since he came here.
“But the place is buzzing. He’s a God up there, the fans love him.”
