Dailly doubtful with broken toe

Christian Dailly has emerged as a doubt for the Old Firm derby with Celtic after suffgering a broken toe at the weekend.

The experienced defender was sent for an X-ray after reporting discomfort in his foot following the win over Hibernian and he has been told he has suffered a broken toe.

Rangers boss Walter Smith will wrap Dailly in cotton wool in a bid to have him fit for Saturday’s showdown.

"Christian was limping badly after the game and X-rays showed he has a broken bone in one of his toes,” Smith told the Scottish Daily Mail.

"He will not be able to do much at all for a couple of days and then the injury will have to be assessed again by our medical staff.

"We would have to consider him doubtful at this stage for the game against Celtic."

Rangers are three points clear of Celtic and the Ibrox encounter is shaping up to be a classic and Setanta Sports is the place to catch all the live action. Click here for details on how to subscribe.

What will happen on Sunday?

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“Quote: 'History recognises the winners, so if you take someone who won the Champions League 20 years ago and ask them who their opponent was, they don't remember." ' Really? Anyone remember with affection the German side that won the World Cup in 1974? They had one gifted player - Beckenbaur (spelling?) the rest were just a good team playing well for each other. The Germans are like Chelsea, they bludgeon their way to finals and trophies but no-one remembers the attractive footbal because there isn't any. Anyone remember the Dutch team that won nothing that year? Cruyff et.al. They were the stars of the tournament with their total football, they are the team that people remember because of the football they played. They are the team that people hold with affection because watching football played with artistry is pleasing and lifts the spirit. Arsenal are more like Brazil. They play attractive football, but don't win everything. Sometimes they do. Arsenal will win again.”
