Toffees hopes going down under?
by Tom Adams, 28 March 2008
The news that Tim Cahill will miss the rest of the season is a desperate blow for Everton and particularly untimely given Sunday’s Merseyside derby is looming large.
The injury will no doubt give Rafa’s Reds a real boost ahead of the game at Anfield but it is also likely to cast a dark cloud over the remainder of Everton’s season.
With Cahill in the side, Everton have claimed 2.22 points per game but without the Australian talisman, that tally falls to just 1.31.
Cahill has also helped The Toffees to claim 1.83 goals per game, but again that drops to 1.15 when the former Millwall man is kicking his heels on the sidelines.
