O'Shea doubts Fergie retirement

Manchester United defender John O’Shea has told Setanta Sports that he doubts Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season, regardless of the outcome of the club’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns.
The Republic of Ireland international also admitted his frustrations at being a bit-part player at Old Trafford, but stated his dedication to the club.
“It’s very frustrating,” O’Shea told the Friday Football Show. “You want to play as many games as you can; but it’s no different to all the major teams.
“It’s part and parcel and you’ve got to be ready when called upon, especially at this place. When the manager does decide to put you in, he’s got to have 100 percent faith that this man is going to do the job for him.”
When asked if he thought The Red Devils’ Scottish boss would call it a day at the end of the season, O’Shea replied with a wry smile.
“It will be interesting to see,” he said. “I don’t think so.
“I think he’d see the chance and have the hunger to do it again the following season. It’s all a bit hypothetical.”
And the 26-year-old said even he was surprised at the turnaround in the Premier League title race, as United sit five points clear at the top having trailed Arsenal by the same margin just a matter of weeks ago.
“It’s very strange, the situation,” O’Shea added. “A few weeks ago we were a good few points behind and now it’s all changed.
“I think if you gave us this situation at the start of the season we’d be very silly not to take it.”
