Dortmund call off Degen talks

Borussia Dortmund have ruled out any further talks with Philipp Degen, after an unsatisfactory response to their contract offer from the reported Liverpool target.
The 25-year-old Swiss right back, who is out of contract this summer and will thus be available on a free transfer, is reportedly on the radar of Premier League teams Liverpool and Tottenham.
Degen appears increasingly likely to move on, with Dortmund appearing to have given up all hope of persuading Degen to commit his future to the Bundesliga side.
Dortmund's managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed the impasse.
“We made him a proposal but still there has been no concrete response from either him or his advisors,” Watzke told Bild.de.
“We do not want to wait any longer. For us, the issue is closed.”
Degen has been ruled out of the rest of the Bundesliga season through injury but is confident of being fit in time to represent the co-hosts at the forthcoming European Championship.
