Adebayor: In the team

Fernando Torres and Emmanuel Adebayor have taken the final two places in our setantasports.com Team of the Season.

Although our reporters and experts came up with very different Best XIs for the Premier League campaign, our readers have remarkably selected the same team picked by players themselves in the PFA ballot.

So even though Chelsea are still chasing a Premier League and Champions League Double, not one of their stars has made it into the best side.

It means our team lines up like this:

scott nicholson - 10 May 2008 16:15: Would of had Lescott in at LB and Carragher in there aswell. Dont know where CW is getting that hes slow from. His pace at tracking back and tackling is class. Hes not as fast as RIO obviously as RIO is probably one of the fastest DC there is. Totally agree with Ashley young being in there though; Report this to a moderator

Alan - 10 May 2008 13:15: Brian, can you honestly say that Jamie Carragher is a better centre half than Rio Ferdinand ? Rio is by far the best performing English Centre half of the season. He has come into his own this year and dominated pretty much everyone and anyone he has come up against. The English national team didnt fail to qualify because Jamie wasnt there they failed because English football is becoming a joke, the French, Dutch and Spanish national teams do better than ours on a consistant basis because they do not have club teams with 80% foriegn players. Their league is full of homegrown talent, then as they progress they get sent here to get the world class aspect by playing other top footballing talent from around the globe. Essentially we are training other nations footballers to beat us and are too daft to realise it.; Report this to a moderator

Super Reds - 09 May 2008 16:21: I'm a Liverpool supporter and as much as i'd love to see cara in this team in his favoured central role, why was he not an option at right back saying hes been shipped out there again & again this season? BRIAN PHILIP OLIVER - 09 May 2008 14:35: Although i agree with most of the team i think there should be a place in the centre of defence for Jamie Carragher, who has season after season proved himself to be a top class centre half. It's a shame he decided to retire from international football (not that he got many chances). For the last four seasons at least i've thought JC and John Terry were the two best centre halves in the league and would have worked well together at the heart of the England defence. They weren't tried and what's happened? Nothing to look forward to this summer. Why do the new managers of England say they are going to bring fresh ideas to the job but still pick the same squad and ultimately the same starting 11.; Report this to a moderator

“United deserved the title. why can't everyone see that? Why are there all the recriminations from TV and people on here? It was a clear penalty and the rio incident one wasn't. Yes, scholes could've been sent off but how many times do you see the ref show leniency in such situations? Chelsea couldn't even win anyway so any argument is completely moot.”
