Claude: Bleus over Blues
by Laurent Picard, 09 May 2008
Claude Makelele claims that playing for France has been the most important aspect of his football career.
The midfielder is about to play two historical games in The Premier League and in the Champions League that could permit him to lift two major trophies.
But when asked about his most important achievement, the veteran says it is playing for his country.
Makelele will play Euro 2008 for France next month and has said that winning his first, and probably last title with Les Bleus would be fantastic.
“I will go to Switzerland and Austria to win because I have never won a title with Les Bleus,” he told Onze Mondial.
“The French team would have been the most important thing in my sporting life.
“I want a happy ending for my international career, not finishing it quickly.”
