Grant and Young pick up awards
by Adam Marshall, 09 May 2008
Chelsea manager Avram Grant and Ashley Young have picked up the Barclays Manager and Player of the Month awards for April.
The gong gives Grant the perfect filip leading into two massive games for the West Londoners as they entertain Bolton Wanderers before taking on Manchester United head-to-head in the Champions League final.
Although the Israeli will be hoping to be scooping a bigger trophy come Sunday afternoon, it is just reward for a run of 10 points from a possible 12.
It is the first time in over a year that a Chelsea boss has been honoured with Jose Mourinho picking up his final award in March, 2007.
Aston Villa youngster Young can finish the campaign in good heart after proving his worth at the Midlands club and making real progress under Martin O'Neill.
The former Watford winger is expected to figure for England under Fabio Capello in the summer international friendlies.

The 22-year-old scored three goals last month and continued to figure prominently for Villa and follows in the footsteps of team-mate Gabriel Agbonlahor, who won the Player of the Month gong in November.
The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans.
