Kean signs for Queens

St Mirren striker Stewart Kean has signed a pre-contract with First Division side Queen of the South after being released by the SPL side.
Kean will become a Queens player on June 1 when his contract with The Buddies expires, and he is relishing the prospect of linking up with his new club.
“Queens are a very positive club from everything I have seen and they are definitely moving in the right direction,” he said.
Buddies boss Gus MacPherson – who is also releasing Alan Reid – explained his transfer plans for the summer.
“We have told Alan Reid and Stewart Kean that we won’t be extending their contracts but we have offered Stephen O’Donnell and Garry Brady one-year deals,” he said.
“That is most of the contract situations determined but we hope pretty soon to have something to report about the two or three others still outstanding.”
MacPherson did however end speculation linking him with a move for Celtic’s reserve striker Paul McGowan.
“As for the rumours relating us to signing Paul McGowan, we did watch him a few times when he was on loan to Morton and he is a player I rate but the bottom line is we just couldn’t afford him,” he added.
