Caley veteran given new deal

Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s veteran winger Barry Wilson has been handed a new six-month contract.

The 36-year-old, who spent part of this season on loan at St Johnstone, has been awarded a testimonial match in August against Liverpool but that will not be his final appearance in his team’s shirt.

Wilson told Inverness’s official website: "I am very happy to have signed as two months ago I was contemplating the end of my career at ICT.

"The loan spell at St Johnstone gave me a kick-start and as results hadn't been that great whilst I was away, it made it easier for me to win back my place. Of course, the couple of goals helped too!

"It is a good deal for both parties and I hope that come Christmas time the contract could be extended to the end of the season."

“It's clear Ronaldo is still unhappy. This is postponing the inevitable. Ronaldo will be a Real Madrid player in 2009. Fair play to Fergie because he is stubborn but there's only one winner in the end here.”
