Spurs join Joaquin chase

Joaquin: Wants to stay but...

Tottenham and Everton have offered Joaquin the chance to move to The Premier League next season, according to his agent Eduardo Espejo.

The Valencia winger is tipped to leave El Mestalla in the very close future, as his club need money to address their financial difficulties and his performances this season have been highly disappointing.

Spurs and The Toffees have emerged as potential suitors for the Spain international, with Serie A giants Roma also in the frame for the 26-year-old, and his representative claims that he met with the clubs' directors.

“Clubs such as Roma, Everton and Tottenham are following him,” Espejo said.

“I went to England a week ago to listen to those propositions and today everything is in Valencia’s hands.

“I have spoken to the Valencianista club to tell them that the player’s first option is to stay here but not at whatever price.”

Los Ches have just appointed new manager Unai Emery and Joaquin wants to know if he considers him as part of the club’s future.

Who should coach the GB football team in 2012?

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“I'm glad he's staying!! For a few weeks there I thought we were going to get ripped off TWICE in 1 summer! Robbie Keane is a very good footballer but worth £20million i'm not sure. £18million for Barry and £12million for Alonso!! Jesus is it just me or does EVERYONE else see that as terrible business?? Rafa has a plan that he obviously thought Barry would be the perfect cog in his midfield machine but maybe next year, maybe not. I'm not sure about Riera but i'm willing to give him a chance like he deserves!! I hope we win the league this year but Chelsea are looking very strong.”
