Cygan: Arsenal want Senna
by Laurent Picard, 01 July 2008
Former Arsenal utility player Pascal Cygan claims that The Gunners are interested in his team-mate and European champion Marcos Senna.
The centre back, who has signed a one-year contract extension at El Madrigal to replace Martin Caceres, has paid a huge compliment to Spain international Senna, saying the midfielder is ‘Villarreal’s best player’.
Cygan reckons the Brazil-born midfielder, voted in setantasports.com’s team of Euro 2008, is becoming one of the very best players in the world.
The 34-year-old claims he has been told Arsenal are ‘interested’ in the midfielder to replace Mathieu Flamini and according to him, signing Senna would be a good idea for The Gunners.
“I have heard that Arsenal are interested in him,” Cygan told RMC radio station. “That proves how good he is, as they rarely make mistakes.
“Senna is Villarreal’s best player, he is sharp, starts all the plays, and is more technically gifted that most players at his position.
“He had a massive impact on Spain’s European victory and improved a lot as a player in the last two seasons.”
